A group of little Putangitangis - or Paradise Shelducks in Auckland Domain,
Putangitangi is the Maori name for them.
The Mummy & Daddy ducks are quite different from the little ones - see WS
I visited them again this morning and unfortunately there are only 4 of the 8 left.
The quality of the image is not great but I thought it was worth a post as they are cute little guys. |

Putangitangi - can you pronounce it Jack?
What little sweeties they are - I've never seen a Paradise duck at the Domain - but there are plenty all over the countryside down south.
Beautiful birds, and seeing the little chicks is so interesting. Mama's colours stand out well too.

Cute ducklings. GReat photo!
These are Paradise Duck ducklings, their parents have a distinctive call when they are in flight and one of the parents has a white head, the other parent has a dark green head I think.
