Critiques [Translate]
Hi Rew, I do look at your photos, but often refrain from critquing them as I just dont have any tech advice to give you with regards to your indoor people/portrait shots..I have absolutely no clue about lighting technics etc...but this one drew my attention, and thought I would write something... to me the lighting is wonderful!..A nice angle that you have shot from, but is it me, does it make the chair look like it is floating a little...maybe just the angle..Nice bold colours here Rew..well done.
Kind regards
Dawn

Hi Rew,
Great light and colours. Pose is good too.
The point of view is not too good in my opinion. It looks like the chair is balancing on the foremost leg. I've uploaded a workshop to illustrate.
Most of your shots are more or less sharp front to back. How about put one of your models in the chair like diana and shoot from the left and close to the left side of her legs. Maybe shallow dof to blur the feet and lead upto a smile on the face. I don't know. Just a thought.
Cheers,
Jens

Hi Rew,
A perfect pose and POV! This is superb how you positioned Diana in that seat and took the shot from above. Diana shows a great relaxing mood, and you captured it perfect. One little nit pick though, I think the dark area of the top is just a tad to large, a small crop would even improve this picture (a bit)....just my opinion Rew. Nevertheless a superb posting.

very nice shot, I also thought the chair is floating at a glance but still you captured her well

Hey Rew,
Well the new strobes certainly haven't hurt anything at all. ;0)
You still do a wonderful job of capturing and presenting very natural looking skin and skin tones, and for me that makes most, if not all, of your portrait series stand out.
This one, I think, from a tech perspective is right on, as described above.
From a composition perspective, you're right, it's fun; I find her dreamy look matched to the floating chair a good mix and right on to the feel of the shot.
Good work,
Wilt
Hey bro, this is nice, its always good to mix it up a bit. This was a really cool idea. I like the distortion and I think the lighting is nice and even and it came out well overall.
However, my only complaint is the wrinkle in the backdrop under her feet. I know, that is a very small flaw, if its a flaw at all, I just personally hate seeing the backdrop. Im just OCD like that.
But its a good shot man, well done!

The detail, colors, light, and idea was there Bro, but the composition... Jen's WS nailed it.
I saw this kind of composition on the tv comedy sitcom if this was you wanted to portrait, as you mentioned you had some fun which is very nice to hear :-)

a creative idea & concept, mate.
it reminds me of an ads of new luxury seat of an airliner. i like the perspective here.
the use of black backdrop is really effective.

Hi Rew,
how are you today?
This post looks like a De Beers advertising spot taken in outer space. Very clean and perfect light.
Nice effect from your lens (50 mm wideangle?).

Thomas

Hello Rew.
If there is some distortion from the wide optics, it is in a positive way. I like this angle of full length shot of Diana. The negative background making the image floats in outer space. Another fine work from you. Thanks for sharing and warmest regards,

Well Rew,this kind of work is far away from me technicly,I agree a bit with Dawn, the only comment I can give on your pictures is purely emotional.
This is just so nice to see,and it makes me very happy,a lust for the eye,.....and not only because of your models.
jan
Hi Rew,
I authorize the retouched photo, not the model!
Unfolds coverage to the chair, it distracts the eye Rew.
Otherwise nothing wrong ... beautiful picture ...
I think my next vacation go to New Zealand ... with all these beautiful models ...

Hi Rew, Good to see your creative side is still churning well! This pose works well and the distance is just right, not too close. Twin has some similar shots from a floor above into the foyer. His also are very well created. TFS. Murray.
PS was good to meet some of your pals in Sabah, we all enjoy your work.
Hi Rew!
Great combination of colors! I like the POV and composition.
Well done!
Regards,
Paulo.
What a nice corner to corner focus man. You are great.Your new strobes are certainly working great. One thing waht about the empty area over head if we comapare with the feet side????
Any fantastic job.

Ciao Rew
Beautiful the portrait
and in this segment you make them very well!
I like your model, in the robbed way and calm
of her, of the beautiful colors and Bg in black
all detach the details.
Congratulations!

Hi Rew,
I have had several ' more than cursory looks 'in your wonderful gallery and each time i do check you out i realize how remarkable your studio , portraits and outside of the studio photos are , but as Dawn commented ( she pretty summed up what my feelings are also in critiquing your shots which are anyway mostly perfect in my view )i too feel quite a bit awkward to write a critique since i rarely make portraits myself and i am not very versed in studio techniques thus in the end i may not show good sense so please excuse me for not being a regular commenter but be sure that i do like and enjoy looking at your lovely models and very certainly do find all your notes highly interesting as well as the threads in the discussions about them. Just as i believe critiques are important to me , they are as much for you too so i am going to give it a try here.
First, i am excited by the model's pose legs crossed and obviously at ease , she's comfortable in there ( she is a regular of yours and she does the modeling in this session very nicely ) A word about the dress it jumps at you, you can't help but notice it but it offers a good contrast in color balance here also like how you positioned the chair obliquely for a different perspective , innovative and surprising to me but to you just another good idea shooting from the top of a stepladder i think it is very cool and i barely see any distortion really , well perhaps her head placed a little to her left as to appear whole against the light seat fabric would have her hair more highlighted and contrasting than fused into the BG , not a big issue and your last line in your note i approve : I like the effect too!! Bravo,
Regards,
Carol
