We have full take-off power, but no lift-off.
This female Carolina Wood Duck was preening and washing herself for over ten minutes.
damn near impossible to get a focus, she was all over the place.
All I can think of...it must have been a very important date ;)
In the workshop, there is another view of the washing frenzy.

Hello Peter,
What a stunning capture, perfect sharpness, very good idea, well done & TFS.
Regards
Atri

Hi Peter,
What most striking in this picture is are the motion blurred wings and the sharp head and body of the duck. The "shower" is well captured too. I don't think Housten has a problem, but Carolina Duck :-)
Great posting.
Hans

Hi Peter,
the sharpness is incedible. More dramatic with the blur from the thrashing wings !
Excellent !

Well done. Best regards, Daniel

Hi Peter,
I like this nature photo very much, it is unusual and your usual sense of humour makes it even better! The WS is astonishing. Nice lens to catch the detail. TFS. Murray.

Well Peter this is just super. Lovely movement, plenty of drops and crisp sharp.
Cheers
David

Do you think she has fleas - or nits???
Good action shot Pete. She's even scaring the goldfish away.

Is it worth visiting Ngatea again? The grandchildren were asking to go again next summer holidays. I was disappointed last time with the lack of the usual birdlife.
