Thousands of them, not only those who appear on the photo were flying near to the grass.
This picture was almost unwanted, due I was taking sunset photos, and using manual focus I realized that this uninvited guest appeard as a primary subject.

Taken during the sun set around 8pm, 500km NW from BA.

(the compression put it`s dirty hand on this picture, due I have to reduce the picture quality to upload this image)

Some info:
These insects have a pair of scaled wings, a pair of halteres, a slender body, and long legs. The females of most mosquito species suck blood from other animalst, this blood sucking characteristic has made mosquitoes one of the most deadly vectors known to man, literally killing millions of people over thousands of years and continuing to kill millions per year. A mosquito can travel up to 10km in a night, and fly for 1 to 4 hours continuously at up to 1-2 km/hr. Most species are nocturnal or dawn or evening feeders .During the heat of the day most mosquitoes land in a cool place and wait for the evenings. They may still bite if disturbed.

cool ta photo bravo salut bonne journée

That's probably one of the few shots of mosquitos I have ever seen, and a beautiful one at that! You've made these mosquitos look....heavenly, or magical. Even though they are a serious pain :P Got a couple of bites on my legs and they feel and look horrid. Really amazing how the warm sunset lighting not only evokes the season of summer (along with the inescapable onslought of mosquitos :/... ) but also brings out these lovely shining highlights on the mosquitos themselves that makes them pop out from the background. Great flat background that is simple and has a soft gradient, and only broken by that lovely big lens flare at the top left and bottom right, that adds for a bit of contrast and adds a dynamic quality of the shot. Excellent vertical framing that shows not only the abundance of the mosquitos (:/ I am sorry I have to keep adding those frowny faces...) but also the random placement and diagonal lines of them going across the shot, creating tons of balance and a strong compo. I really like those soft vertical lines going down the whole frame. Really beautiful and tasteful simple black frame for the shot, thicker at the bottom for that nice simple text. I love how the shallow depth of field and the manual focus makes some of the mosquitos sharp and in-focus (no pun intended, I swear) and some softer-looking. Really wonderful! TFS!

Personas con tu vision y creatividad pueden hacer que mosquitos se vean como gotas de agua brillando por el sol.
Saludos.

Hi Fernando,

"the compression put it's dirty hand..." :))))))))))))
Never mind!
This photo is unique to me. Sometimes "the uninvited" brings us the unexpected but desired change.

Best regards,
Attila
