I had to take this picture quickly and i realise the focus is on the background instead of the duck but i guess the sense of movement on the duck can justify the blur in this case maybe? , maybe not, but i uploaded anyway even though i would have liked to focus on the duck, but while i was there i didn't see another one close enough doing that again:(
This was taken at Parque Centenario, a round-shaped park in the middle of Buenos Aires where i had to commute to that day, i didn't know there was a pond and ducks there before i had to cross it to take the subway so it was a nice surprise and i stayed there for about an hour and took a few pictures that i will keep uploading before i upload pictures of other places in Buenos Aires from that day.

Allen Hi:
Thanks for uploading the image, even with your reservations. I believe that is how we learn and we have to be brave enough to take the chance. Very nice colors. Excellent note as well.

hi Allen
Interesting shot, it looks like your focus is not the duck? But then your original composition without the duck has not main subject of interest?
tfs, bill
Hi Allen - yes, the focus is obviously on the background, but I don't think that is a bad thing.
Depth of Field is an interesting tool to play with - in this image it works to give us a 'duck's eye view' of the surrounding scene. It is almost as though we are with that duck sharing the view os the figure in the distance.
Mistake or not, I think this shot works in itself and as a lesson of how DOF can be used to express different viewpoints. This shot is ok, a technique worth playing with.
it is most likely that your camera picked up the focus on the BG because:
1. the duck was moving so that the camera can't lock focus on it
2. the bg has more contrast than the duck.
you can use the multiple shot function in your camera that allows you to take 3-5 (depending on your cam) at the same time. i had quite a luck using this function on my camera to capture a duck flapping its wings once.
