A first view of the wide open spaces of Patagonia a few miles west of Viedma along National Highway 3.
This sight presented itself a couple of days into what turned out to be a 3600-km driving tour through the southern part of Argentina over nine days. The trip was completely unplanned and spontaneous: all that was reserved upon arrival in-country was an Avis car (on the basis of unlimited milage) and the return flight home. Everything else was up in the air. This trip was my only visit to Latin America. The decision to head south out of the airport in BA was made during the inbound flight while reading tour guides -- I think it was the mystique of the name Patagonia that attracted us over driving north to the Iguazu Falls.
I can imagine that better shots have been taken of the subject matter, but as a New Yorker living in the middle of Manhattan who has not yet been able to drive across the North American heartlands, I was struck by this vista of the coastal plain of Northern Patagonia -- its vastness and apparent sameness in the midmorning light of late summer/early fall -- and it was these aspects that I tried to capture in this photograph. Also, the road (a principal route) without a center stripe and with no visible traffic was novel to us. This impression I wanted to catch, too.
This trip to what we found to be one of the most beautiful and hospitable countries we've EVER visited is a highpoint of my life; I hope that we can return to Argentina in the future before we're too old (we're both in our sixties) to be so flexible and adventurous.

I like the perspective and angle here. Perhaps you could have added some contrast or darkened the photo a bit. Or you could use a neat filter on Photoshop to spice it up a bit. Just my two cents, but great concept for a photo. TFS! And thankyou for the background info.
