[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Parque Machia near Villa Tunari is home to a dozen or more free-ranging capuchin ("organ grinder") monkeys. Capuchins are New World monkeys of the genus Cebus. Their name comes from their coloration which resembles the cowls worn by the Franciscan Capuchin order of Catholic friars. This is a young Brown Capuchin (C. apella). Capuchins are considered the most intelligent New World monkeys. They are omnivorous and extremely curious. They are also expert thieves. After taking a mud bath, this little guy stole two cigarettes and a lighter from my shirt pocket before I knew what was happening! He fiddled with the lighter at a safe distance for a few minutes, got fed up and threw it into the bushes, and then came back chewing a cigarette! Grinning!
