The extinct volcano Tunupa is alive again! This volcano is located at the northern border of the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. We had to get up at 5.00am to watch the sunrise over this 12000 square kilometer salt flat. Tunupa’s summit is coloured in different shades of orange and red. But with the light of the rising sun the colours seemingly come to live as if the volcano is erupting once more. Actually the real colours are difficult to capture. I think in reality they were more vivid, but it gives an impression anyway.
If you’re planning to go there to take photos of the sunrise, wear warm clothing. I was warned beforehand, but underestimated the cold none the less.
greets
