Another view of the volcano Tunupa. There’s also my virgin photo (‘virgin’ with reason. It’s not as good as I’d hoped) of the Tunupa. The other was taken at sunrise. This one was taken late afternoon. We where dropped off somewhere on the Salar and where told that our hostal was at the foot of the volcano. We where glad to stretch our legs after a day of jeep driving. But what seemed to be a short walk at first, became a painstakingly long trek over the white. And at these altitudes every activity is a lot harder than at sea level!
Since we estimated the distance completely wrong, I invite you to estimate the distance from the point where I stood to take this photo to the foot of the volcano! (Hint: This was not taken at the beginning of our walk). The correct answer in ‘discussions’!
Cheers

Good morning (for you) Joris,
we seem to be on this site always at the same time! ;)
Back to Bolivia with a superb shot!!! the colours are gorgeous and the people give a great sense of distance... am pretty bad at guessing so I'll go check straight at your answer ( sorry for cheating!) but it seems damn far!!!

Stunning location, a great view! The light and saturation here are spectacular and the sharpness is good. The composition could be a little better - I would have a little more foreground to make the view more dramatic, and the crisp, clear line across the horizon is slightly skewed, just a 0.5 anticlockwise rotation would fix it?
I'd guess about 2km from where you are, to the base of the volcano?
