In another village outside of Santarem, we stopped in a village square where they have the church, country store and a couple of restaurant. i noticed that people are just standing around talking to themselves. In almost all the corners of the street that meets the square there are people huddling and talking. Even the plaza or the square have people sitting down by themselves just ogling us, the tourist. Strange but true, they are all women! This photo is an example.
Santarem is in a strategic position within the Amazon Basin as it is located between two major river cities Belem and Manaus. It is also located in one of the principal tributaries of the Amazon the Rio Tapajos. It is the third largest city in the Amazon yet it retains much of the flavor of a classic Amazon river town. It is quieter and less congested that Belem and Manaus. t is Santarem that provides access to the Amazon basin's deepest and darkest corners.

This 'hanging around' posture is so typical; the boring brings them together; today we even see those grouping behaviour from elder people at McDonalds restaurants; looking for attention and telling stories and especially jokes.
Daily life Andre!
Thanks

Hi Andre, I like this one, Brazilians are very very friendly people, and it is true you will always find people together on a corner talking or having some delicious snack and maybe a cold beer. I love Brazil, Tyanne my daughter was born there. Great people , great country.
Christine.
The expressions are wonderful. I'd love to see more of these neighbourly gatherings in my country. Unfortunately everyone seems to be too busy and disinterested in other people.
Wonderful daily life shot.
