The Tamandaré Square is the largest square in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul [lacks sources?], And is located between the streets May 24 and General Neto, in the municipality of Rio Grande. It is also the city bus from Rio Grande. In the center of the square is located the monument in honor of General Bento Goncalves and his mortal remains. Was chosen to house his tomb, as the city of Rio Grande was the only one that he failed to win during the Revolution Farroupilha.
