FERRY BOAT DOCK BEYOND
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Taken from from the deck of our ship. The dock in the foreground is the floating dock for big commercial ships. The reddish brown image is top of the wood guardrail of our ship. The floating dock beyond are for the ferry boats that ply the mocha brown waters of the Amazon river.
Just a few decades ago Manaus is the largest city in South America although it is so isolated it can only be reached by planes or by boats. Today it is linked by roads to other parts of Brazil, but the roads sometimes are closed during the rainy season. One glance at the river front still shows that boats and planes are vital to this city that is located nearly a thousand miles from the nearest salt water. Although ocean going vessels reach Manaus regularly, the small riverboats similar to the one in picture, cowd the riverside docks. These are considered the buses of the Amazon Basin. The primary means of transportation for the ordinary people of the region.

hi Andre,
this is a very creative shot and an interesting composition!
At first glance it almost feels like the bannister is on the same level as the ground!
But then the scale with the little water drops/puddles and the wood-like texture provides the sense of depth and height.
Nice work.
Best regards, Daniel
