•Mainspring

Clock mainspring
A mainspring is a spiral spring of metal ribbon that is the power source in mechanical watches and some clocks. Winding the timepiece, by turning a knob or key, stores energy in the mainspring by twisting the spiral tighter. The force of the mainspring then turns the clock's wheels as it unwinds, until the next winding is needed. The adjectives wind-up and spring-wound refer to mechanisms powered by mainsprings, which also include kitchen timers, music boxes, wind-up toys and mechanically powered flashlights.

Hi Ralf - this is an unusual shot and always good to see something a little different on the site. The only slight niggle is the white triengle top right - I think i'd have preferred either more, with the number in shot, or nothing at all.

But I do like this, some nice details and a good image to pay close attention to - nice one!

Hi Ralf
Great macro.Original composition.
Congrats

I was looking for one of these a few weeks back and I couldn't find my old mechanical watch. I will need to look through my fathers collection.
Nice sharp macro with good detail in the mechanics and good exposure, you have maintained the DOF well with the macro lens...TFS

Hi Ralf,

A macro shot of the clock mainspring? I hope your clock still working, :P It look old for some reason, but I like it, very nice lighting and details, not something I see everyday for sure. :D

Have a nice day,

Cheers,
Sweety

Hi H

I like the asymmetrical relationship, between the 2 circles. A good entry in the theme, with excellent sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Ralf, great study of light and shadows on that macro, great colors and textures, very good light management, thanks my friend!

Hi Ralf,
Nice one for the theme, well thought out.
You have captured the detail and the workmanship that went into this timepiece.
