This is a strong picture, and I regret not being able to focus the dog as much as the people sleeping in the background... I was a bit affraid of the place I was standing, holding my camera so near, so I took it pretty fast and got away with it...

I'm not proud of that view of Rio, but I also consider being important to show to the world.

Showing disturbing things are one of the few ways to make it change, I guess. We see scenes like that everywhere on daily basis but government leaders seem more concerned with other matters, gold medals in Olympic Games, and so on. Lately I found out that Brazil is planning resources to build a nuclear submarin!!! what for??? why??? we can barely protect our Amazon forest, real lungs of earth!

Sorry, I carried out my thoughts, anyway, this one is quite interesting under a philosophical point of view. The dog, the keeper, the protector, even if there's no house to protect.

That shot was taken at around 8am.

I hope you like it... and sorry for the dog blured, my mistake.

Bruno there is no need to apologize i share your view and the heck if the dog is out of focus, the message is well conveyed and that is just as important...it sure makes a strong photo... next time i amsure the dog will be in focus too.. that's also how we learn isn't it? please continue your good shootings... and making us learn you world... did you see on TE the one i posted from Rome in the same vein..?

Yes, Bruno. Of course that's a pity not to have the dog in focus... But the photo is still a nice one... It's social aspect alone makes it worthwhile.

The background texture is beautiful. I like the lighting too.

Wish you absolute success, for the next time :)

Even though I've expressed to Eric some of my dislikes or ethics about shooting sad situations, I must say yours is a very good one.

Technically I wish as everyone that the dog was in focus, he's the one one that makes us empathize with the poor guys in the background.
The dog is also the character that can lift off my own moral hesitation about this image, I mean that in a way this your shot conveys a gentle sympathetic feeling, when you remember the saying, "whoever loves animals cannot be a bad person".

Bem filosofica !

I really like it that way. The important here are the person and the focus on them drives better the message. The out of focus dog appear as a guardian, a secondary personage, almost a ghost, but very strong.

The composition, the colors, the sharpness, a technically excellent picture.

CONGRATULATION !!!

I think many of the same things, Bruno. When I hear of billionaires living in luxury, I wonder why there should even be people with nothing to eat and no roof over their heads. Many people, if not most, are selfish.

Your shot of these slumbering people and their protector is heartfelt.

hi !
what a pity !!! to bad you didn't get the dog on focus. If it had been, your photo would have been one of the best on the site. the colors are great though

Stunning photo, one of the best on Treklens.

Something about the striking pose of the dog.

Does he know something the rest of us don't?

Most likely he does. Crazy world we live in..

great comp with good colours between the dog and the bg ! i would have prefered the focus on the dog though !
