O Museu Oscar Niemeyer localiza-se na cidade de Curitiba, capital do estado do Paraná, Brasil.
O complexo de dois prédios, instalado em uma área de trinta e cinco mil metros quadrados (dos quais dezenove mil dedicados à área de exposições), é um verdadeiro exemplo da Arquitetura aliada à Arte.
O primeiro prédio foi projetado por Oscar Niemeyer em 1967, fiel ao estilo da época, concebido como um Instituto de Educação. Este edifício possui o segundo maior vão livre do Brasil, com 65m. Foi reformado e adaptado à função de museu, para o qual Niemeyer projetou o anexo, lembrando um olho, imprimindo-lhe uma nova identidade característica.
Inaugurado em 2002 com o nome de Novo Museu, com a conclusão do anexo foi reinaugurado em 8 de Julho de 2003, recebendo a atual denominação. É conhecido localmente como Museu do Olho, devido ao design de seu edifício.
A instituição tem como foco as artes visuais, a arquitetura e o design. Pela sua grandiosidade, beleza e pela importância do acervo, atualmente representa uma instituição cultural com projeção nacional e internacional.
The Oscar Niemeyer Museum is located in Curitiba, capital of Parana State, Brazil. The complex of two buildings, located in an area of thirty-five thousand square meters (of which nineteen thousand devoted to the exhibition area) is a true example of architecture combined with Art. The first building was designed by Oscar Niemeyer in 1967, faithful to the style of the time, conceived as an Institute of Education. This building has the second largest free span of Brazil, with 65m. It was renovated and adapted to the role of the museum, for which Niemeyer designed the annex, resembling an eye, giving it a new identity feature. Inaugurated in 2002 with the name of the New Museum, with the completion of the attachment was opened in July 8 2003, receiving the current denomination. It is known locally as the Museum of the Eye, due to the design of your building. The institution focuses on the visual arts, architecture and design. For its grandeur, beauty and importance of the collection now represents a cultural institution with national and international renown. |
