Puerto Varas Chile ... view across Lake Llanquihue to the snow-capped volcano Calbuco, which rises majestically in the distance.

Puerto Varas is a town located in the southern Chilean province of Llanquihue, in the Los Lagos Region. The city is well known for its German traditions, its food, its fish and seafood, the natural environment, its casino and 4 star hotels.

Only 20 km from Puerto Montt, located on the shore of the Lake Llanquihue, one of the largest natural lakes in South America. The perfect cone of Osorno volcano and the snowcapped peaks of Mt. Calbuco and Mt. Tronador are clearly visible from the lakefront. On the western shore of Llanquihue Lake are the tourist localities of Puerto Octay, Frutillar and Llanquihue.

The city of Puerto Varas, also known as “the city of roses”, was founded in 1854 by Vicente Pérez Rosales. The city is named after Antonio Varas, minister of the interior during the presidency of Manuel Montt, when the city was founded. The Montt administration offered lands around lake Llanquihue for mostly German speaking Europeans to settle and farm those lands. Puerto Varas was founded as the main port on the lake, connected by road to the nearest seaport, Puerto Montt. This homsteading program continued through the remainder of the 19th century.

Hi Sky... Your landscape is amazing.. The man on the bench adds lots to think about!
Great notes

Well seen. Interesting contrast of subjects.

An excellent POV Sky. I am not sure that including the gent on the bench does anything for that shot except add some realism. Lovely colour and good detail. TFS,
David

Hello Sky,
I would not mind visiting this scenic area. Well captured, a high quality image. The man sleeping on the bench makes me wonder whether he's homeless or a tourist; he definitely adds a punch to the photo. Best wishes, Danilo

Its unfortunate to see people living on the streets. He is a tourist or a homeless man? Anyway your tech details are very good. Nice DOF control and very good natural tones. Thanks for sharing.

Hallo Sky,
wunderschöne Landschaftsaufnahme. Mit der eingekuschelten Person fühlt man fast, dass es hier etwas kühl ist.

Hi Sky,
Very beautiful photo with a superb view on the lake and mountains and a interesting humain element in foreground. Bravo and thanks for sharing! Annie

Hi Sky, I could curl up and have a little siesta there, except the bench may be way too small for me lol. Certainly a beautiful view with the volcanoes in the bg. The water does look cold. Nice compo and POV. Good shooting. TFS! Lyndon

Great snapshot of daily life - the superb and majestic scenery and the guy asleep on the bench : there's got to be some social commentary here somewhere!
Great composition and lovely colours.
Thanks for sharing
Mark
