He is an Orphan.
He has no one.
He knows nothing of the outside world, but is this fair?
This morning I was to take photos at the Orphanage here in Huanuco where some of my friends are volunteering. When I return to Canada I hope to be able to sell some of these photos to raise funds for these children, to purchase school supplies and some new toys.
At this orphanage, I hate to tell you all, it is run by Catholic nuns, I have heard that the nuns discipline these poor children with belts. I was there last week and we heard screaming coming from on of the rooms upstairs. My friend went to see what was happening and another girl who worked there told her she was being disciplined. My friend later seen the marks on the little girl, and asked her what happened. She received a C on an exam, so she was punished, as if being an orphan isnīt enough.
Life can be so unfair.
This time last year I was in the favelas of Belo Horizonte, Brasil, taking basically my first photos. I have come a long way, but still have much to learn.
More so just having my camera with me everywhere and being prepared to shoot, I still find myself hesitant. To precautious.
Thanks, Adam.
(just realized, I forgot to sharpen it before in uploaded it) |

This is a strong moment you captured Adam, it says so much even, and even without reading your notes we can feel how sad the whole thing is......I guess I have to agree with you how life can be hard....We ought hope that things will change.....what was the avarage of age in this orphanage? BW is the perfect call for this moment, their lives just have no color.....
