Again a 'salty' photo from Peru
same location as my previous photo in the vast mountain range there.

Again the story that goes for this one the same:

In the outskirts of Maras-Pichingoto Farming Community and ancestral residence of the descendents of the Incas from Hurin Cuzco - Salt mines are found (locally called "Salineras"), used from pre-Hispanic times to the present.

The salt water comes from the mountain, which is full of minerals. The water is collected in small beds, and allowed to evaporate, Surprisingly the salt gathered like this do not need any further processing.

Thank you and have a nice day :-)
Vandana

Very nicely captured, Vandana. I like your composition using the mountains to create some nice lines and the layers of salt are very interesting. I find the light a bit harsh on the right side and I know it is not easy to manage exposure when there are so much white. I guess you could have worked on it a bit in PP to find a better balance of shadows & highlights. I have tried it in PhotoShop and it looks a bit better...just a thought. Well done!

Hello Vandana,
Interesting to see these production facilities for salt!
Good point of view gives fine impression of the place, the image is well composed too and with fine colours and details!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Excellent image Vandana. Well composed, superb colour and fine detail. Interesting notes also. TFS,
David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Corra Lynn Rapids’

I have seen kayakers there Vandana but at this time of the year the water level is low and in times of flood it would be very dangerous.

Wow! I didn't know that detail at all!
If i know about the evaporation of sea water for the most classic salt...
I heard about some volcanic salt too!
But to see a garden of salt in altitude like that...
Very impressive :)
I enjoy the details!

Good morning Vandana,
There is an interesting and natural separation of the picture by the four coloured zones. Your main subject, the salt, with its pale colouration, the darks shadow red zone on the left, the well illuminate red zone on the right and the blue-green background. It create a nice effect ! Good composition. TFS.

When i saw the thumbnail, i told myself: should be a good reason to photography a patch of snow.
Well, first reaction: Oh! Shit...
Spectacular scenery for the least, good lesson of history and how people make a living....

TFS
