| This little girl was helping her mama sell embroidery by the roadside. There are as many types of hats in Peru as there are provinces. This type, with embroidered floral pattern, is typical of the Chivay region high in the Andes at about 3400 m. The broad visor is necessary at this altitude to protect the face against a wicked sun and ultraviolet rays. |
