The town of Ollantaytambo, 42 km from Machu Picchu, has its own Inca ruins. What is unique about this place is that the MEN wear traditional clothes ("upside-down basket" hats and colorful ponchos) as well as the women; this is increasingly rare in Peru; i.e; that men wear traditional clothing. I found it charming.
It was here that Manco Inka vanquished Pizarro in 1538.
I snapped this shot sitting in a bar across the street drinking beer after beer, awaiting the train to Aguas Calientes (2 km from the ruins at Machu Picchu). The
enchanting music this gentleman made with his pan flute and drum is immemorial for me. Through his music, with my eyes closed, I was transported to another world...a world of long ago. Whatever "pourboire" I gave him (and I recall having given him a tidy sum), it wasn't nearly enough to repay the pleasure he gave me! |

TFS.

Hi Michael
Wonderful capture of a doubtless enchanting and melodious moment in your travels in Peru.
Vibrant colours and the natural facial expressions give real appeal to this compo. Well captured. Well done! Great note too. TFS.
regards,
Martyn
