After climbing up the Canyon de Colca (3000 m deep, thus making the Colorado Grand Canyon pale in comparison), one
arrives, breathless, at the Cruz del Condor, the cliff where a dozen or more Andean condors take off in early morning for the wild blue yonder on 3-meter wingspans. At this altitude and after having climbed more than I've done in the past several decades, I thought this might well be a posthumous autoportrait! |
