My canoo driver

| Titicaca lake. To move from one Uros island to another, people use these wooden canoos. Wooden's not actually the word since they're made of that long grass they also use to build (actually 'nail') the islands themsleves - and they even eat it! (It's not exactly tasty) The canoos live at much for a couple of years before they get rotten by the water, and it takes also ages to build them - and lots of workers. Look at the man; I love how people in those parts mix up traditionnal clothes with those borrowed to the American Dream, or so may I say - and mind the shoes! The guy was nice. He teached me how to drive the canoo. What I failed to do anyway... |

I love this photo! Your capture of the blur of movement in his hand gives the feel of being in the canoe with you. As a point of interest, I must dress highly fashionable as I have a pull over jacket exactly like his AND a pair of pants like he has on! Woo Hoo! All I lack is a grass canoe! An excellent capture here...
