Original in color. I added a layer and desaturated the color. Added another layer at 60% opacity and some ambience/blur/saturation. Then I erased a little of the top layer to bring out some details. I also had to make use of the healing brush on the finished image to help her complexion. Shadow is natural light from a window.

Note: this model is 19.

I really love this portrait. It is so unlike the usual portraits you see of nude women. I like your use of a full-figured subject. The photo is soft and perfectly exposed. She has a delicate sadness in her face - her eyes appear to be searching.

a great portrait Glen... Like Amy wrote : there is sadness in her expression. The light is good too.
It is nice to see something different in nude photos and show that everybody can be beautiful. For this : respect and congratulations!
Fred

oh nice portrait.

cute face.

tet

She looks so young on her face, so innocent but her body says something diferent: that she is mature, how old is she?
very nice portrait, nice light and way of showing her so softly
amazing

Hi Glen,

Nice black and white portrait! The light is excellent. Great work!

tfs,

Hi Glen, I Like the full figured model too. I don't mean to pick nits, but in B&W her shoulder comes very close to blending into the background, I think a slightly darker background, maybe one with texture might help. Also, I think her expression looks a bit unsure, like posing for a photagrapher is completely new to her; she doesn't seem uncomfortable, just not quite sure what to do. I do think that this is a good shot though, great use of natural light & shadow. I think Viki is cute & hope to see more photos of her; Good job. Regards, Erik.

A very sensual picture with a great model! The beauty exists everywhere when we take the time to look at it! I congratulate both of you to show us something different and most of the time taboo! Great shot! Michel

Perfect portrait.
Gives me dust to think.

A relly great portrait. The light is just perfect to reveal her anatomy. To me she doesn't look sad, but neutral, wich gives more power to this reality shot. Very great work!

Hi Glen,
Very beautiful portrait well composed. I like it with the softness you have used and her sadness expression. Very well done.
Luc

Remarkable shot; remarkable thoughts arrive in my head; full of prejudice and quenstionmarks. That's my problem; I just have to judge this on reality and possible emotion it gives. It does.
Very good Glen and very good Viki

Hello Glen,

Outstanding! Excellent portrait full of emotion and story. I agree that her face appears to be so much younger than the rest of her. It is that look of wanting sadness that does it. You have captured soul very well here Glen. Thanks!

Peace and Love to you always!
Kevin

Very good portrait Glen. Great lighting and bw tones...
Tomasz

This is slightly creepy. It almost looks like her head is on the wrong body. It freaks me out to see people like that.

How old is this girl? Her head loooks 10, but her body looks fiftyish.

Excellent portrait! Composition gear up for a very fine result.
thanks for sharing!

Sorry to all, but this image does not do justice to the model - I think it is way below any portraiture standard. Although the idea is nice, the B&W works for the model's face, but a straight-on approach with unflattering lighting, sorry, -5/10 for this one. The right arm also appears unnatural in shape - always exploit the good features of a model and hide the unwanted areas by means of 'cammoflage' and model-posing. Anna (Limba3) - great work with the workshop - that does work for this image.

Hi Glen! I ended up on your picture (again) through your note in the forum. I remember seeing your picture when you first posted it, and i didn't leave a comment, probably because I don't comment often on portraits as it is not my "specialty". But this time, I think you deserve a quick comment: IMO, this picture is wonderful. I won't comment on the light as I am a poor technician, but lots of kudos for the composition. Good framing (not to be confused with the frame), nice background with the white area, and a perfect capture of her expression. There is a lot of emotion going through this photo, and to me, that's what counts. Hats off, Glen!

Very nice portrait of your beautiful model. I like the light how it shines on one side of the face and shadows on the other. Very good black and white tones. Well done Glen.

Hi Glen,

Like Pierre, I wanted to make a critique after reading the forum, and I must applaude you for your work, you have some great suggestions here, and, like the gentleman you are, you take them in stride.

Bravo!!

Wow! You don't see many like this. She's beautiful.

Very provocative subject ... but very beautiful and tastefully done.

She looks like she wants to convey a message, beauty is in the eyes of all who knows how to find it. Congratulations I really like this one.

where the other voyeuristic pic wasnt successful this shot excels. utter bliss!

This is wonderful. So different than many other photos of women on this site. The amazing thing about it is, after seeing the photo, you want to talk to Viki, find out about her life, her beliefs, everything. The black and white and her facial expression provoke that curiosity and I love how you have her off-center. I will have to admit that when I first saw your gallery I thought "oh, just another photographer posting skinny female, half-naked models..sigh" but then I saw this and I was so impressed. I think women are so beautiful without makeup, airbrushing, touch-ups, or having to look like a stick figure with watermelon breasts. Wonderful and brave photo that defies many nasty beauty standards thrown upon women today in many different parts of the world. Thankyou for sharing this.
-Lara

Wow, she has such beauty and dignity in this shot, but there is that vulnerability in the way she holds her eyes and mouth - it's such a fantastic photo.
