A sequel to this one...

In comparison with the man in my previous shot, this guy was skating much less graceful. It shows in the way he holds his body and his arm here, I think. Look at the deep scratches he made in the ice...During my walk I saw him fall at least 1 time; it was clear he wasn't relaxed on the ice at all.
In fact, he really reminded me of... me ! I'm very clumsy on the ice, and I usually fall faster than I can get up again. But I do enjoy ice skating, it's just that I don't get enough practice - or so I keep telling myself ;o)

I converted a landscape mode picture to portrait mode, and deliberately left in the top part where you see a weird "triangle". It's a place where the cormorants can dry their wings. I'll show a survey of that pond later on. I wanted to keep a sense of space in the compo...

The sun came from another angle here, and I was enjoying looking at these skaters so much that I forgot to adjust the polariser. As I said, clumsy !

Tech talk

Converted from raw.

Underexposed 1/3rd of a stop.

Croppity-crop.

Downsized for TL as per usual: 150 dpi » 1200 dpi, 2751 pixels height » 800 pixels *, 1200 dpi » 96 dpi.

* Applied USM 18, 40, 0; USM 150%, 0.3, 0 after downsizing.

Boosted saturation to 120.

Used noise reduction, luminant noise: 20.

I re-wrote my intro late in December. Feel free to read it if you have some time. One thing I'd like to repeat here is my opinion about the point system; please leave me a critique if you want, but there's no need to add points. As far as I'm concerned, spend your daily amount of rated critiques on newbies or on members that really care for points. I don't... I care about useful critiques ;o).

Anyway, thanks for stopping by !

frank,
I liked the expression on his face, and the distorted reflection on the ice quite nice.the triangle behind well gives a balance to the compo.

Well, I can he be gracious when he is using North American style of skates, those are for speed not for grace. Seriously, I like how you captured his full reflection on the ice this time with nice colours on the ice. Well done!

No more green smile...

This is a super post - very well composed, good colour and saturation. Well done

Hi Frank,
In this case, he doesn't look professional. More of an amateur, very tense in body posture as we can clearly see this in his pose. Great reflections off the ice.
Good composition under the circumstances. I’m curious as to what the whole pond looks like.
Well done :)

ps. Say hi to Dingo & give him BIG HUG!!!

You know what... I didn't see the note that the reflection and colors of the ici remain me exactly the other scene. At this point i told myself from thumbnail... Just said... Franck too? No it's probably regular skates with blades :) I like it!
I could say most in rollerblade. I don't have a great style.. but i'm solid on my legs lol! And it's a good think. I don't appréciate so much to fall on the pavement. It's not happen often but i miss a jump one day and was very happy to have my wrist protector. God they receive all the scratches!
The iportant is to have fun! I agree with you!

Another great shot from your frozen pond series. I like this one because all of the reflection is in the ice. Very well done Frank.
I'm confused if you want points, or not :)

I like the way you captured the shadow. Nice action image. I might crop out that triangle thing at the top. B

schaatsen op een spiegel .Prachtig

Beautiful shot Frank, very clear image. I like a lot the reflection of the skater on the ice. Very nice. Frank, if you have a chance, check an eye in the magazine Chasseurs d'Images, they have an article about defectuous "captors" on digital cameras, because of the oxydation on it, after two years of using it. Very interesting to read.
Best regards
Guy

I like this shot a lot more than the previous one. This one shows more action and there's something more to see on it. The first in my opinion lacked something to make it attractive.

Hi I did a wiorkshop, because I thought the comp could be improved, thanx, M, (*_*)

Hi Frank,

Nice shot, the reflection is an added bonus, the lighting is warm on a cold day.
I agree with Magda's w.s. so, no sense in saying it again. ;)

Cette photo m'a attiré par sa netteté et ses couleurs très naturelles. J'adore patiner et je le fais presqu'à toutes les semaines avec mon mari. C'est un sport très vivifian et bon pour garder la forme. Très bonne prise de vue Frank...

Hi Frank,
Very colorful image here with a great reflection. As for ice skating...we never get snow much less enough ice to skate on, I could probably show you and this skater new ways to fall!!! Lol. TFS,
Fran

Hihi,

Indeed his skates are not the best one for those kind of ice. But he seems to be having fun. Good sequel! I just would crop the bambo thing on the top. It's not really necessary here ;)

Good work!

Take care, Stef :))
