[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Bishwas leaning on his Uncle's drum shop, snacking. In Nepal a lot of delicious snacks are sold on the streets. Some are carried in woven basket weave trays on heads, then when good spot to sell is found, the tray is put on a long narrow woven stand, and they are in business. Small shops, carts, and even just a ledge or piece of cloth on the ground can be the "kitchen". Then it is served in newspapers, rolled up in a cone, or wrapped in a flat piece. He is still in his "offical" school clothes. Schools demand uniforms, books, general supplies, and after first three years (government school), there are no free schools. Even the poorest person often will strive to better their children. Many children can never attend school, they must work to help their families. Bishwas is very lucky. His mother is a widow, very poor, (cannot read or write), but she has sent all 4 of her children through school so far by making drums in a tiny shop. Children his age can be seen carrying bricks, and doing many dangerous jobs.

After having read your note, the shot becomes much more meaningful. I like the school tie and the movement of the hand from newspaper to mouth - where he is still chewing on the previous mouthful. Mind you I would have straightened the shot and cropped out the hand on the left - but that's a detail.
