[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Don Valley Brick Works. One of the most fascinating things about this place is the light. The only source is from windows and doors, but mostly from holes in the roof that act as spotlights. Depending of the time of day, it will hit a wall, a graffiti, an old piece of equipment, or in this case, a stairway.

I placed myself in front of the "spotlight" to get as much as possible the gritty effect. I particularly like the background here which shows how dusty (and probably not healthy!) this environment is.

PP Notes:
- A bit of cropping;
- Curves Adjustment;
- Saturation +10%
- Resized, sharpened and framed.

Let me know what you think!

Really good composition Pierre. I remember climbing those stairs. I like how you used the light source, and especially the star effect on the highlights. Good colour and sharpness. Well observed.

Hi Pierre

I like the backlighting on the stairs, & poles, & the juxtapositioning of different geometric angles. Good color conrasts between the red & blue. Bon travail!

Pierre, you have done a great job here capturing the light reflections so cleanly. The stairs add to a strong graphism element. Great composition. Thanks for sharing.
Enrique

Good lighting and good exposure. like the title-it must have been hell working there.

Look like that stair have history... Evil i don't know... But history for shure. Well catch!

Bien vu!

Yes; it is a great place; not for work but for artwork. Imagine the noise on these stairs when the shift for lunch starts; great picture.

Looks like a backstage of a theater but very dirty! I hope those are not asbestos. The back lights are wonderful, it shows all the dirt. A very good photo Pierre!

Michel

Geometry wise - excellent composition, using metal bars on the left to fill in the emptyness. A shot that covers a considerable space and yet all details are in sharp lines, without almost no single curve.

Depth wise - remarkable use of geometry [again - bars uprfont and pipe curve in the background], lights and colors [especially the warm-red color of bricks on the left].

Again, an excellent study of light and dof management.

...is what many thought I'm sure as they climbed these stairs everyday for years and years. Interesting capture Pierre and you have shown the grittiness very well. Adds much to the mood of the photograph. The colors and light are great. I really like the light coming through the dust on the rails. Well done Pierre!

Love and Peace always!
Kevin

Bonne photo Pierre!

I'd prefer the Led Zeppelin version, Pierre ;o).
Nice textures indeed, but am I wrong in saying that you helped the textures with some oversharpening the stairway ?
Great colours, as you say in all the series so far the light is a very important aspect. Err... that's what photography is all about, right ? Capturing the light ?

I love old rusty oversaturated photos! Such fantastic colours emerge out!

Well done. The lines and the red glow make for a nice image.
