Hi Sabrina,
Great image. What the photo dosn't do justice to is the sheer scale of this beach. I remember this view, as I stood on almost the same spot when enroute from Christchurch to Invercargill. This beach is massive! I suspect that the black cube on the beach is a vehicle of some sort? I remember so surfers when I was there, and they were very small dots in the sea! I'll have to dig out the shots I took, but I don't think they are as good as yours. You have captured the scene very well.
I also remember the fossilised trees that were on this slope, which is quite steep.
You can see some in the left of your shot.
