Gee... I found this was a hard one...
Couldn't come up with an idea for the "Letter G" theme for the current SH.

Then, last week, I was sitting in my comfortable seat, watching tv... when these curls in the fancy table caught my eye.

My father created that table himself some odd 30 years ago. After he passed away, my mother gave it to us when we bought our house.

Funny how some details of things one sees every day get blurred in ones mind...

Tech talk

Took this close to the ground with a small tripod, used available light from the room.

Rotated, mirrored, straightened.

Croppity-crop.

Downsized & sharpened for TL as per usual (1902»700 pixels).

Noise reduction: luminant noise 40, chromatic noise 40.

Applied a soft edge, 7 pixels wide.

I'm sorry for having so little time for TL these days... I'm planning a trip to Rome in July and want to learn to speak Italian by then!

I re-wrote my intro late in December. One thing I'd like to repeat here is my opinion about the point system; please leave me a critique if you want, but there's no need to add points. As far as I'm concerned, spend your daily amount of rated critiques on newbies or on members that really care for points. I don't... I care about useful critiques ;o).

Anyway, thanks for stopping by !

Hi Frank,
a wonderful contribution for the Hunt.
This letter is difficult IMO, last Hunt a F was easier. I wonder what ideas are coming at the next Hunt. I also like the story behind your G. Very well done, I yet finished the hunt, I'm glad ;-)

Gee... your smart !!..its amazing what all of a sudden jumps at you... well done.

Nice light, and colour...

Cheers mate..
Dawn.

This is more like it.
I was surprised with the Actual letters that have been submitted, which should be taken out.

Good on ya, Frank, excellent shot and well done on the composition and submission for the Scav Hunt.

Mike

Good catch, Frank! The uniform colour is quite interesting. I think it needs a wee bit more breathing space, not much. Just being picky... The best "G" so far!

Very well seen, Frank. I also thought the G challenge was almost impossible to meet but you have proven me wrong. This is very well done, nicely composed with nice DOF. Well done!

P.S. Good luck with learning Italian. You seem to already speak quite a number of languages so you should be OK...

Well seen and captured, Frank! I like colour palette and shallow DOF.
Alla.

No doubt about it! :) That G seems waiting for you... :) Nothing around to disturb about it! Ok i will send a funny montage i did for a ramp like that...
I like your idea... Simple and workfull!

Hi Frank,

Funny how many things we have in front of us, mean something and we ignore them... :)
Great shot very well composed!

Hi Frank,
Excellent contribution for the scav. That G is really great and I like this simple composition but very effective with great DOF. Very well done.
Luc

Oh Gee! The perfect G for the hunt. Geez you're good. And there it was, staring you right in the face. Your father was a very talented man to have made this. I love the lighting.
What does 'mirrored' mean.

Hi Frank,

Well spotted, this is a perfect "G". There is so much around us these days that we miss the obvious sometimes. Well done!

John

Interesting composition Frank, it's funny how long you've had this table and you just now thought of these shapes.

I loved the the title for g! :)))) Sure you said it when you saw this. For me the hardest part is finding letters in scav hunts! You did so well. Good DOF and nice monochromatic tones here. Just it seems a little sharpness in PP work.
Thanks Frank!
Elif

Gee wizz Frank. Couldn't you post a Gee-gee (horse) instead??

You're gonna love Rome, anywhere in Italy. We were there in August 1999 and I would love to go back with more time to spare next time. Are you just going to Rome or travelling elsewhere as well? Can I come? Pleeeeeeaaase!
Janice

Wow! quelle trouvaille Frank... Your Gee is perfect... J'aime bien la petite bordure noire que tu as ajouté autour du "G" ça lui donne du relief...

great find, it still amazes me, when you 'really' use your eyes, the things you see... well done, thanx, M, (*_*)

A good find Frank.
Not an easy letter to spot "in the wild", but this one is domesticated ;-)
The frame mimicks the gradient reflection in the bended wood, but the white is a bit strong IMO.

Hi Frank,
first of all this is a very consistant original creation and offered nicely by the quality of picture and work here.
Colors and precision are exelent.
