This is not my pet but it is a pet. And you have guessed it, it's a pet in action. I love just about everything about this picture except for the composition. I wanted to include the owner/thrower in the shot and wanted the whole dog too. What I ended up with is half of each. Took many shots, but the catcher got tired before the thrower and the photographer since it was quite a hot day. For those of you who have seen my spider web picture, the guy in that shot is the same one you see here. He's much more comfortable around dogs than he is around spiders. Great friend of mine.

"Nice catch" Richard.
A very good moment here. I love the determination look that the dog has to grab that disk. I would crop the top of the photo and maybe use a clone tool to add some grass on the top. Just to have the only the dog.

Impeccable timing on this shot.

It just couldn't be any better, Richard. You have caught the action with his mouth wide open. A great shot....

Let's see action ! What a great shot, many, many times tried ( I know what it is...)
I like the "snack" hanging in your picture, nice work, Richard !

I think you got the timing just right. The wide open mouth .... and all those teeth are excellent. This is not easy to capture, and you did fine freezing the frisbie. Great entry for the Scavenger Hunt.

Richard, I know the difficulties of taking 'moving dog' pictures only too well. This is a true success, a once-in-a-lifetime capture of this action: the frisbee about to be bitten ;o). Look at these fangs!
As you said, the compo is the 'least good' part of it, but who cares, the soon-to-be action is much more important. Beautiful. I tip my hat! A great entry for the SH.
TFS, TFS², GTF.
I like David's WS too, except for the motion effect on the frisbee.

Richard this is an excellent capture but I would crop down to just above the dog's head and in from the left.

Woow this is really shocking i dont want his claws on my arm. lol =) Really nice caption. Cool Work.

Wonderful action shot Richard! As for your comments, it would be great if every shot were just as we would hope for but alas, not to be! A great shot just the same. I love it! God's best,

Tim

Those strong jaws, I'm happy that i'm not the snack. Great shot Richard.

Richard
great timing and a wonderful capture by both!!
maybe you should consider cloning out the person in the background ?

Wow, great stop action photo. I like the fact that the dog is at the extreme edge of the image, as if the image cannot contain him. Normally it would be better, I suppose, to have more room in front, but in this case, it works very well. Sharp, clear image.

Well Richard, consider it a new artform - Three cropped subjects: dog, owner and frisbee. It still tells the story it's supposed to tell, doesn't it? And you really released the shutter at the right moment. Congratulations. Oh yes, and the dof is pretty good as well.

This one should be in "decisive moment". Great shot, anyway. Take care, Richard.

Great shot that u share here Richard, the kind of action shot that every photographer would dream about, the perfect timing, and you dealed with it. I love it, except for the composition... Action shots : that's the real tuff exercise !!!

Awesome action shot, well done!

Great shot!!!! So lucky to catch it just were you did, or maybe your camera is faster than mine! I have to guess ahead of time to catch things (too late even)....

Salut Richard,

Luc

Excellent Action shot! That green Disc must really be yummy for a bait:)
Mel

i love this picture! my dog is great at catching frisbees, and i love the style and grace dogs have when they jump up to grab one. very nice shot...it's a hard one to get! about your note...i think the half-of-owner is good for this picture, but i do see what you mean about wanting the rest of the dog. still a great picture though!
