[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Monument Valley has been photographed by so many people in so many ways, that I hesitated to post this here, but I can't help but remember how awe inspiring it was to travel down that long road with such a majestic vista ahead of me - so, please forgive this visual cliché. It was quite an overcast morning - I adjusted levels in Photoshop for sky and foreground, removed noise and sharpened image a bit. Note: I wanted to try for a shot that would allow the road to lead in from the left of frame, but I was at the top of a hill with traffic coming at me from behind and a steep fall-off with nowhere to stand on the right side of the road, so this was about my only viable vantage point. Also, those of you who are movie buffs might remember a scene from Forest Gump in which Forest had been running for months. His followers were behind him with this view of Monument Valley in the background.

Good day Jim,
Wonderful perspective/viewpoint here. Yes, I do remember that part from the movie.
Excellent work getting the road in from the left.
So much information in this image the jpeg compression does little justice to what an original print would look like....not to state the obvious but so much color/detail info in a photo and no matter what camera used or techniques the compression kills the clarity...ok enough of a rant there.
Love these earthen colors and time of day this was taken.
Great title by the way...works quite well.
I can do without the black frame and orangish color stroke...does take away a little for me but not so bad.
Maybe leaving the image non-sharpend might of helped with the crunching of information going on here.(Sorry, been dealing with this with my last two posts...so much picture info)
All image crunching aside...I really enjoy this view.
Fabulous composition.
Great lighting!
Most excellent Jim.

Maybe a classic but there is nothing wrong with it when it is well done, Jim. I like these wide space scenery and this is very well composed. I find it a little oversharpened but that may be just a personal taste. Thanks for bringing this beautiful place to us as I really feel that I am standing at the top of this hill looking at the majesty of this landscape. Excellent!

beautiful place beautifully taken

Great shot, very nice perspective you have managed, lovely earthly colors and nicely composed. The soft lighting really is beautiful as well as the nice presentation.

Into the great wide open....
Beautiful! perfect POV, the road not in the center.
TFS,
Jan w.

Great shot!

Michael wrote his rant about the compression already, so I won't go there. I find your composition original, with the road on the right side. The fact that you are at a higher level also gives a nice perspective. A great classic!

Jim this is really nice work. The depth and perspective is great. Was there on my motorcycle 2 years ago in a sand storm! TFS, B

Excellent shot!!! I like how you used the off centered road to carry the viewers eye towards the distant moutians.

Your photograph is very well composed, good colors and the point of view is well thought of. The perspective of the road directs your eyes to the majestic mountains. Very well done including the frame.

Andre'

I am, I suppose, one among millions who have stood at this point on the planet and dropped my jaw. Didn't have a camera worth having at the time but did take the obligatory shot. Where that print is now, who knows?
See, it isn't the quality that matters a jot here. It would be all the better if it were totally pin-sharp - or would it? Not for me. I like the 'effect'. It is the emotion that counts more than anything else.
Cliched or not, a classic landscape landmark and a lovely presentation.

A mythical subject! A brilliant exploitation far from the beaten paths. Bravo for the acuity of the details and the colors. I adore! Annie
