[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It's been a very very long time since I've been around. I've missed it here!

I've always wanted to get into portrait photography but have never actually done it. My friend is expecting any day and was kind enough to let me practice on her. She is 37wks in these photos. I have no equiptment at all so I was forced to get creative. We used window lighting and a sheet for the shoot.

PP: In this particular photo she was standing directly in front of the window. I decided to see if I could make it look like studio work. In PS I cropped out the background and turned it black. That's it. The rest is as is it was.

I will be posting more from this series. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

It is a special moment. I love that you choose to put under "portraits". It is a portrait of the baby to be :)

I wonder if it would work better in black and white.

Thanks for sharing...

Hi Chmiley!!! We simply can't believe you're here again! Well have a warm welcome.
THis one is a true surprise because from the thumbnail we thought you might be pregnant again :) But we're glad you are back and you have find the time for your camera. And not just some ordinary work but with one very clever and creative way to experiment and show those astonishing yet frightened feelings of expecting the new life. Great work, almost like some yin-yang representation, congratulations Michelle! Looking forward for some more from this series.

Welcome back Michelle. Nice to see you posting again. This is a lovely portrait of such a tender moment. Very good lighting and well done on the PP work. It really does have that studio-style look about it.

Hi Michele,
You've achieve your goal of a studio lookalike, I was sure it was a studio shot until I read your note. This is a great photo full of emotion and of the love of a mother for her baby to come. Very well done.
Luc

Very nice job of improvisation, Michelle! It may be easier to create these kinds of portraits in a studio, but it can be done without the fancy lights and equipment. There's nothing more beautiful than natural light, and you've used it well here.

Lovely, lovely shot. :)
Gayle

Hi,
This is really elegant. I like particularly where you positioned your subject in the whole picture. There's a lot of black emptiness there, but it works beautifully.

Glad you back again Michelle, Wonderful moment...Indeed creative! Good use of natural light on the subject & very nice composition!

Very good use of natural light, good positioning of your 'model'. I also like the dark, empty background. Abit like how it's inside there for the baby, maybe.

Beautiful shot Michelle, excellent composition, lighting and pp work. It does look like it is taken in the studio. Very well done, all the best to your friend and hope you are getting some free time for your photoshots! :)

Very nice shot with excellent lighting. The black background does wonders for showing up the nuances of light on your friend's body. I am sure she is delighted with this photo, and it will be a treasured memory soon, when her new baby arrives. Very well done Michelle.
Cheers
