I took this photo at the Show in the Shade Car show in The Dalles, Oregon. It represents very well the Show quality when the participants put so much effort into showing off the work of restoring and taking care of their cars.

This car is sporting a drive-in tray complete with a typical meal, Burger, Fries, and a milkshake. Too bad the Drive-in movie theater have virtually disappered in this country.

I found a very interesting site about Drive-in Movie Theaters.

"THE BIG PICTURE: as the indoor multiplexes multiply, their
screen sizes continue to shrink, while their prices continue
to rise. As audiences weary of the rampant commercialism,
people are discovering and rediscovering Drive-in theatres,
cinema al fresco, in increasing numbers, contributing to a
revival of the Drive-in theatre after many years of decline.

Drive-ins provide a romantic and nostalgic alternative under
the stars; have the largest movie screens; snackbar menus
(in contrast to over-priced lobby candy and soda); usually -
two, sometimes three movies for the cost of 1 admission ..
which is certainly providing a greater value for your dollar.

Yet, Drive-ins offer an experience and an opportunity for us
that is more than merely seeing a MOVIE on the BIG screen.
It's about seeing the larger picture— choosing the Drive-in
as your opportunity to support a fragile Mom&Pop tradition;
to celebrate and to help preserve the presence of the Past."

Hi Lori,
Great photo with really vibrant colors. What an effort the owner must have put in the pollishing job. The paint is spotless and the chrome is really good condition. I would have croped out the lady on the right but thats just a really small thing. But, for the rest great photo of this classicall scene.

Lori,
ahh....takes me back to the 50's, wait a minute I was born in the 60's. I love these beautiful cars though and this is a great shot at a nostalgic drive-in. I like the red, white, pink and chrome colors. They are crisp and clear. Good shot, great composition.

What a great shot of this old car. The colours are just wonderful and the shiny chrome trim shows off very well. The shot is clear and crisp and full of detail. I just feel the pink frame takes away the impact of the colours in the actual photo. Anyway I did a workshop to try it out and will post it.
Super photo!
Cheers Joan

Hi Lori. The pinks in this are so eyecatching. The colours are wonderful and the reflections are so great. What a shiny car! Love the drive-in tray, especially with those milkshakes - pink of course!

Hello Lori

Hi Lori
What a nostalgic reminder !!! I know so well that era when we used to remain seated and eat hot dogs with fries and then sound a loud birp before leaving!!
Efficient cropping and lovely assorted frame.
I wish I could get younger, now !!
