[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
To accompany Suzanne's post of today, here's what you can find a few metres out in the water on that same beach: sea urchins! They are beautiful creatures, just be careful not to step on one of them. I was testing the underwater housing I bought for the SD400; works like a charm!

PP Notes:
- some cropping;
- Curves adjustment;
- Re-sized and Smart Sharpened.

Enjoy.. with care!

Bonsoir Pierre

I like the symmetry & graphism of the 2 sea urchins. Good sharpness & dof. J'aime.

j'adore plonger pour et MANGER les oursins. Just don't step on them!!! Lovely, quite abstract, like the lightplay, thanx, M, (*_*)

Well-composed shot, I like graphic of this picture.

THIS IS DIFFERENT PIERRE!!!

Wonderful underwater capture. Yes! Ouch is right!!! Very well composed and a great job with your equipment. The underwater casing worked superbly... nice clear shot with beautiful colours. The Urchins really stand out against the pastels of the sea. Very nice Pierre!

Love and Peace always
Kevin

Do you know the field treatment for a sea urchin wound? ;)

This is under water? I didn't notice before I read the note. Now I see the breaking light; instead of using a expensive underwater housing you could walk on shoes ;)
Knowing this comes from under water makes very special.
Thanks Pierre

Bonjour Pierre,
Annie

Hi Pierre,

WOW! I would hate to step on that!! :))
Just goes to show, that we don't need high-tech underwater equipment to capture lovely photos. Nice lighting and colours!
Well done!

Constantinos

Hi Pierre,
Brilliant sharpness, I have always been a bit skeptical of underwater cases, turns out they work quite well!
As has already been stated, the symmetry is rather pleasing. I also like the contrast of the black urchins against the white sand.
Well spotted and tfs,
Jako

Hi Pierre,
this could be trouble in paradise if you step on it. Excellent sharpness and great POV. Nice composition.

Beautiful creatures, so outer-space like, from another world, they move with such grace.
Good image, not bad at all for a test! Must of made your heart skip a beat when your camera (in it's housing case) first touched water your reaction pierre=(panic...leaks..no, none..phew, quick take a shot)

Thanks for the view

Marie-Lise

Ouch! Very prickly looking. I love the light under the water. Good job - a new experience for the photographer!

Gayle :)

Lovely underwater shot of these prickly creatures of the sea. I see that you got the underwater housing, so we will be seing more lovely shots!
Well exposed and quite clear.
Vassilis

P.S. In case you don't know these are great tasting with lemon! The difficult part is to open them.

I like the composition here. You caught their spikeness very well :)

Hi Pierre,

You did well with this capture, interesting view.

Belle forme de vie extra terrestre! Ces deux-là complotent sous une fantastique lumière que tu as su capter pour une ambiance d'ensemble parfaitement balancée (ombres vs clareté).
Grand bravo!

very neat photo
i like how you can see the details
amazing photo
how you didn't step on it.
Sara:)

Great work- the housing for your camera works so much better than buying one of those cheap underwater cameras. I like the compo here with the lines of the spines directing our eyes around the photo.
I'd like to echo your sentiments not to step on these! My brother fell in a tide pool in Monterey, California when we were kids and he landed on one. There was much screaming and crying until he finally got the spines out- we thought we were going to have to go to the emergency room. Apparently some of them are poisonous, but my brother survived. However yours look much more deadly.
Great capture! TFS
