Facts about Bees (part 1 of 4)
Compound Eyes: A honeybee's two compound eyes each have almost 7,000 hexagonal facets. Each facet is like a mini-eye, containing its own lens and sensory cells.
Simple Eyes: Between their two large eyes, honeybees have three simple eyes, or ocelli, that help make their vision sharper.
Thorax: The middle part of a honeybee's body, the thorax, holds the muscles that power its legs and wings.
Forewing: A honeybee's front wings, called forewings, are longer than those in back, called hindwings.
Hind Wing: A honeybee's back wings, called hind wings, are connected to the forewings by a set of Velcro-like hooks, which keep the wings beating in tandem.
Abdomen: The abdomen holds the honeybee's digestive and reproductive organs. It is tipped with a sharp stinger.
Sting: A honeybee's stinger is sharp and hollow, allowing the bee to shoot poison into the victim.

Absolutely brilliant post Panos. This macro is one of the best I have seen yet. Incredible clarity and perfect colours. The detail in your note is especially great - very much in line with the purpose of TL/TE. Very well done with this one.

Incredible macro shot, Panos. The detail you got on the bee is just stunning, and your shot shows a good use of DOF as well. Your note is equally stunning. Great job. Nice to see you on TL.
