| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
| I just told this man "NO". At 1:30am, second day on my way to Delhi, I am sound asleep in a bottom train bunk. This man enters and turns on the lights and tells me to remove my bag from under his bed this minute. In Indian trains, no one cares, and bags go where they can. He has five large ones, that would fit with mine fine. But he claims he "owns the entire space". (If space was alloted, then he would "own" half, the guy on top bunk half). He is rude, is yelling at me, laughing, talking in hindi and english, acting totally drugged out, it goes on for an hour. He kept demanding I change my compartment, so he can have his freinds there too. His freinds have shut off the light, told me not to move. The train is pretty much empty. This is becoming common, men tell me to shut up, do what they say. I said "his wife must hate him with that attitude", and the arrow went straight, she must hate him! I am equal in my country. If the bag comes out it will be in the middle of the floor, as my round bag is stuck half in, half out, and cannot move. His freinds finally get him out, the conductor comes and moves them to an empty compartment. Sleep returns. |

Always a meaningful story behind your photos, and although they are very sad at times, I still enjoy reading what you've overcome! Thanks for sharing.

Hi gloria
Good note & story. I have never had anything like that happen to me. But on a flight from China to CNX, Thai / Chinese passengers will store all their shopping (often 3-5 carry-on items) in other passengers storage space. I asked the flight steward to store my bag up the front of the plane. But if I was feeling 'ornery', I would politely ask them to shift it, & if they ignored me, I would gently move it out of my overhead compartment & leave it on the floor.
Your "friend" looks either drunk or drugged. I would treat such people with extra caution.
Hi Gloria
You do find all sorts of jerks specially in India. I agree with Chris treat them with extra caution if you are traveling alone. i would say it to be a good idea to have a companion while travelling at night.

PS Did he allowed you to take his picture????
