What Is A Cat

Gentle eyes that see so much,
paws that have the quiet touch.

Purrs to signal that "all is well"
and show more love than words can tell.

Graceful movements touched with pride,
a calming presence by our side.

A friendship that will last and grow,
small wonder why we love them so.

This is our cat Tinka. I'm sure a lot of you have seen photos that my mother (cloverstar) has posted.

It was around 2am, yet another sleepless night.
I was watching tv when I noticed Tinka sleeping so peacefully on the floor. I quietly ran to get the camera, and a little flashlight. I then turned the tv and all the lights off. Poor thing! I was shining the light right in her face, but she didn't seem to mind.

**Post Pro**
- cropped slightly closer
- increased contrast
- UnSharpMask
- duplicated the layer, converted it to black and white, and changed the opacity to 50% to get this achieved colour (the original photo had the wrong white balance set, causing it to look really orange)
- added border and resized

It's a beauty, good pp work Pamela.

Great photo!!! Your really liking the black backgrounds lately I notice, hehe. But this one I like the fact that the black is gentle and fades into the subject, and isn't as aubrupt as the shot of your newphew(?).

Excellent lighting and a cut little friend. I'm suprised Tinka didn't wake up with the light in her face.

Pamela,

You've captured the essence of the cat - well done!

My only comment would be to suggest slightly less sharpening.

David

A nice portrait of your cat Pamela. I love the way you play the light here, even if it is artificial :)
As usual, your pp work is outstanding.

great shot once again, Pamela. Post processing sometimes may do photos to look artificial, but yours is almost perfect, and only gets more beauty to the shot. I would just get less sharpness, as David wrote.
Wonderfull cat.

Pamela, Tinka is a beautiful cat, and you captured this sleeping beauty very well. I like the sharpness you used, I don't think you overdid it at all. TFS.

What can I say, a wonderful photo, I love it. Well done and thank you for sharing.

beautiful and so warm foto. U have use the light so perfect and u gave us a beautiful shot.

I can totally sense what is meant by you as " sleeping peacefully" in this picture. The quiet atmosphere was well captured by the lighting and the facial expression of Tinka. The flashlight was perfectly used in this shot.
