[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this one last Easter weekend : sun light was pouring down from Paris skies giving a bright contrast to everything.

I took advantage of the fine weather to go walking on the "Coulée verte" which is a suspended walkway and garden crossing above Paris' eastside streets. This is a fine family walk, 4km long, but I discovered also this was a good place for photo opportunities.

I wondered whether i'll post it to TE or TL but thought the target I was aiming for this shot, purely formal with no informative message to go through, and some additional post processing too would better suit TL.

Some words about the shooting : how could you imagine I could resist theses lines and contrast patterns? It deserves a shot even without anybody included...but you also know me now as a human presence photographer.

I then carefully chose my frame and kneeled waiting 4/5 minutes for too many passerbyes to be out of the frame and that a more interesting character would break out into the space I left in my framing.
I thought, in my back, a mother pushing a babycot would be there first but, coming out from nowhere, the jogger gloriously ran into the dedicated space.

I clicked and was happy with it, I didn't even wait for the mother.

One thing I only realized when I got my neg back from the lab, is that I was waiting for someone coming from BEHIND me whereas I shot someone coming IN FRONT of me, that completely f*cked up the sense of reading.

I then had to correct it at post processing : I added a horizontal symetry so that the scene you're looking at is the symetrical of the one I actually attended to.
One more issue stood up : there's a COIFFURE (hairdresser) sign in the lower left corner I had to copy, tilt it, transform using skew tool and finally paste it to get correct sided letters.

Beautiful pattern indeed. I just love the composition, I think the human presence was absolutly mandatory otherwise the picture wouldn't has been that interesting. Great expression on the guy face well captured.

About the sense of reading, I made a copy of the picture and reverse your postprocessing and I think it work fine the way it was. But off course I don't know what you had in mind when you took the picture.

Nice shot..i like the black and white..good composition..well done

This is very cool, Luko. I agree with you about the lines & shadows here, they make the image happen in more ways than one. Now, I might be pushing it here, but wouldn't it be nice if you captured someone rollerblading?

Very good patterns. This can easily land in the pages of National Geographic. The color tones are very appropriate. Great shot!

Très beau jeu de lumières et ombres. Beaucoup d'éléments et formes dans une image "bien remplie" et pourtant elle ne dérange pas, elle reste "calme à l'oeil", peut-être l'effet d'un contraste bien équilibré?

Vous m'aviez déjà expliquée pourquoi on "lisait" tout naturellement une photo de gauche à droite - [Je me demande si les gauchers ont ce même réflexe] - but if my French stay "so so" my English is even worth and too poor to understand how you precisely "added a horizontal symetry"... Do you mean you made a mirror image of it?

great composition Luko,oh and TL was a good choice to post this shot. The pattern is interesting and the shadow works well and the b/w tones are well captured.

bravo luko this is an excellent shot! the composition with the signpost and the rail really makes the frame for this image and gives a structure to it all;-) b&w is an excellent choice too.. but from you i did not really expect too much color;-)) lol incompatible avec leica?

Top b/w image with great tonal qualities and superbly presented worthy of any pro portfolio, slight noise in the sky but not distracting good notes on how even the most planned shots can have a different outcome. well done

And you were right.. it's a wondefuland simple shot.. What else to say?..

Wow very nice B&W with great details and shadows! The perspective also look great here with the guy in Action. Very cool.

Very cool, B&W makes all the lines and symbols work together. Great capture of motion. It was meant to be.;-)

Very very strong composition here Luko. Great contrast and use of lines here. I love it. One thing everyone here at TL and TE has taught me is that if you find a good spot, sit and wait...something good is bound to happen.

good shot black & white rulez Well done men
