This is my friend Stephen just seconds before he fell to his tragic death in the valley below... just kidding. It wasn't actually quite as dangerous as it looks here, although falling wouldn't have done him much good.
This is in the salt river valley, located approximately 12km outside of the county seat of Kuqa, next to the Kizil Grottoes, and overlooked by the amazingly well preserved, 2,000-year old Kizilgaha Beacon Tower.
Kuqa is an extremely interesting and beautiful place - my favourite in Xinjiang! - and if you are thinking of going out to that area, you must not miss it.
