[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It is my special pleasure to introduce this vivacious young lady to you. Meet eleven year old Claire. She totally captivated my heart with her winning smile and wrapped me tightly around her little finger with her honest charm. Her innocent sweetness and open honesty is what the hopes of this country is depending upon. She will not let us down.
Claire's beauty radiates from within and I had to photograph her. She is the typical "contradiction" of an eleven year old girl. One moment she is the delicate Princess of fragility and the next second she can take that rolled up left fist and give you a left jab that would make Mohammed Ali proud! One half Tomboy and one hundred percent Princess, she is the perfect young lady. From playing sweet music on her flute to her aggressive and avid participation in soccer, She is the example of the complexities of youth. She is an honor roll student, and avid swimmer and collects sea shells and American Girl Dolls. She is a gift to us all and I hope I captured this in her portrait. She is our future and it is in good hands.......
*****************************************

Tech:
1. Used natural outdoor lighting with muted fill in flash for shadows.
2. Cropped original photo and adjusted contrast and saturation.
3. Used NI
4. Resized in 4 steps, sharpening a little at a time.
5. Added a bit more blur to background, added the soft focus filter around photo for sweetness, gave it a bold frame for her strength of character and added signature....

Please critique my effort today as your opinions and thoughts are critical in my progress. And Claire was excited to have her portrait on Treklens today and sends a big "hello"! Thanks, all.... :O)

Very nice portrait Kathleen.
This young girl has a nice smile.
The lighting is perfet, and you got a great sharpness.
Personnaly, i would prefer without the clear blur border, but it's personnal point of view.

Beautiful portrait light and clear. Photo is reflecting the kindness of this personn
Compliments
Jean Michel

What a personality she has! How many a time do we see such sparkles being diminished during the oncoming years, when the selfish interrests of others damage such innocent beauty. When I see children like these, I always hope they might meet the right people in their lives, those who will be carefull not to destroy the delicacy of their innocence.
You have done a great job in capturing her radiance! Excellent DOF, very good compo with the tilted head and all. Your PP work is outstanding, imo.
Say hello to Claire too, and give her my compliments. I hope she will stay the way she appears here in your picture when she grows into an adult...
Well done Kathleen!

This is an excellent portrait of a beautiful young girl, Kathleen. Your model assumes a nice - but firm - pose, as you wrote : a princess, but her left fist is ready... TFS.
I like the heart on your signature, I noticed it on your previous post as well.

Lovely portrait. And what a smile, like a toothpaste commercial or someone real proud not to wear a brace. I am sure she will treasure this portrait as she grows older. TFS Kathleen.

What a living doll Kat! What a great pic and comments on Clair. God's best always,

Tim

What a little doll! A far cry from the "creatures of nature"! Does your photographic talent know any boundaries? You tend to cover them all, from angles to angels! What could be more beautiful than a sweet young girl? Perhaps she can learn from the master photographer! A great shot and fantastic capture of a smile!

A beautiful child well captured in this picture Kat. You have done Claire proud. I think that Nessuno (Wout) has said it all, and so eliquently.
Great picture Kat.
