[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the age of Dinosaurs redwood like trees grew over much of Northern Hemispfere.Subsequent climate change reduced redwood habitat to the narrow fog-bound Coastal corridor of Northern California.
Here is a fallen redwood to show the times it was alive and how one can see the time in history it was alive. It is not clear in the photo, this tree first started , as one can determine by exmining the rings,in 1377.The last marker on the trunk of this tree indicates the year 1889. This tree was fallen and then cut down to show to public in 1980's.
Sorry about the poor quality of the photo, I can blame it on fog and poor light condition.

Hi Pranab,
This is a kind of image that puts hard requirements to sharpness and details to work... I think you do well here in that respect!
603 years is an awesome age, what happened here since the majestic tree is down?
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pranab
Although we cannot read the information on the tree. But your notes and the diagram on the tree force us to wait for a better image with good detials. TFS
Cheers
Baqir

When I visited the redwood the told me that we can see good time and bad times in the climate. (in the rings of the tree). California is very dry lately and the blame it on what ever. But the trees show us bad times in the past equal conditions we have now.

Hi Pranab.
603 years, woow very old.
Amazing details and textures my friend, good sharing.
Thanks for sharing, best regards.

Yasin.

603 yrs in the making... 10 minutes to bring it down. I am not a tree hugger, but if you look at the overall picture... it is certainly very scary.

Thanks to SKY for submitting this photo to the theme gallery.

It would be a crime not to treasure these trees..... so great a history of life they represent....
