Maple Leaf
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Macro shot of a red maple leaf that feel from the tree near my office. I placed the leaf on a light box then shot it with a macro lens.
The color change of leaves during the autumn is due to transformations in leaf pigments. There are three pigments present in the leaf: chlorophyll which imparts green, carotene, which is yellow and anthocyanins which give the red coloration. Low temperatures are supposed to destroy chlorophyll, bright sunshine increases anthocynanin production and dry weather also increases the amount of anthocyanijn. Therefore. bright autumn colors are produced when dry, sunny days are followed by cool, dry nights. |

I love macros and this is a very nice one, good idea of using a light box it gives a vivid red. Lovely. Did you try to crop it to remove the black part on the right. I'm sure if it will improve the photo, maybe not but if you want we can try.
NIce explanation of leaf phisiology (I'm a plant ecologist and I appreciate)

Beautiful patterns and colours, very well spotted. We seem to have the same taste. I'll include it into a theme I also created called "leaves"
