[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For those who encouraged me to take pictures of male models as well...here is my first attempt.

Ta, a student in my Yearbook and Psychology class gamely posed for me. I hanged in the bulletin board my black velvet cloth that I always keep in my classroom... and using the window light, I asked him to pose and look outside.

For PP, I bumped up the curves, highlighted the yes and mouth and used very slight noise to give it a more masculine effect. After getting used to taking female portraits, I must admit I have to adapt my style for males.

You have chosen a very handsome model Manny, and it is so nice to see a portrait of one of your male students.
I like the pose and the way he is looking out of the window. The lighting on only half of his face is great. I know you lightened the lips, but I feel the part of the lip that would normally be in the shadowed area is a little too light. I tried a workshop to explain.

Sorry, out of points allowance for today.

Gosh, Manuel, you have a way with startling eyes! This is fabulous. Going to my favorites, so I don't need to say anymore!!! :O)

finally!! I am happy to see this portrait. you can restore us very well the grace of the young women, or the frankness of the children and the old people. here we see the air of a young man who must be serious, already older than his age, pride in his glance.
the b&w restores well the force of character of a young adult very beautiful photograph. I encourage you to continue.
congratulations Manuel

I've been studying your images and like them very much. Now I see your work with a man. Excelent pic. Your B and W is well done. This image shows intensity. Crisp, clear composition.

Mike

All features are well defined, all disturbing background eliminated, just enough bouncing light on leftside. Quite perfect Manny.
Just the lips seem too glossy and sharp compared to the rest of the face.
Nothing wrong with your "style" Manny ;-)

As your first attempt is very nice Manuel. The light is fantastic here!

Another masterpiece Manuel. This shot has such power to it - just what is he looking at with s feeling of apprehension? Small point, but maybe clone out that small point of light below his chin?

Hey Manny,
Male portraits are a whole different world huh?
What is flattering to a female is taken quite the opposite in men. Males generally look better in the stronger pose as you have done, but need to be sharper and more defined IMO. This shot has a slight feminine touch to it, but that is my opinion only.
Regards and Happy Holidays!

Great Manny!! i like this first attempt, although like brad noted, it still has this feminine touch about the slight blur and sharpened eyes and mouth... it would probably work better had the blur not been so strong... looking forward to your other attemps in this field.. take care;-)

two smileys of encouragement!

I find it very difficult to do male potraits...they all look femenin...or at least that is what the modells say hehe. I think you did great Manny, but i thin i woudl have preffered some more structure iof the skin, not 100% sure teh blur works her. I did the same with a male potriat i had but decided it was best without.
