Happy Birthday PAM

Just as well I checked to see if Dawn or Pam had posted a tulip tonight – because Dawn has posted exactly the same pink Tulip I had planned to show you. Okay, next choice is this one, so

“Happy Birthday PAM” for today. I hope it was a very special time for you. . .

Here is one of the many, many Tulips growing at the Auckland Domain, where I spent yesterday with Pam and Dawn.

The Winter Gardens in the Auckland Domain include two well-maintained glasshouses. The Tropical House, built in 1929, with its steamy, hot, 25-30° Celsius atmosphere, features giant palms, cycads, and exotics and a heated pond with water lilies growing. The Cool or Temperate House, built in 1921, contains masses of brightly coloured blooms containing an ever-changing display of seasonal blooms. And it is just overflowing with the spring flowers right now.

The tulip is the national flower of Iran and Turkey, and tulip motifs feature prominently in Persian and Turkish folk arts. Unofficially, the flower is also emblematic of the Netherlands.

I know that the tulip is the national flower of Iran and Turkey, but somehow, when we think Tulip, we think of the Netherlands. . .

Wonderful shot of tulip. Although Tulip is tha national flower of Iran but I didn't see such a tulip before.
