[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Third in my series on Farmwards.

Caught this one from a distance so he didn't know I was around until it was too late.

He claims that it was too hot to work with clothing on and anyway he tells me that summer is just around the corner and he needs to "photoshop" his tan.
I am glad however that the gun wasn't loaded ;-)

A technical note:
Please make sure that you have the telefoto lens on the camera as to maintain a safe distance from the subject.

Ha! I agree, he does need his shirt off - that night-club suntan is a bit bright!
And summer arrived up here yesterday - beautiful summery weather!
Good composition Steve. A real Kiwi bloke, and a rifle ready there on the farm machine. What is it - a quad bike or what?
Well captured,
Janice

He's got a gun. Your distance wasn't safe. Haha.
Great "typically Kiwi" shot, right down to the sunburnt neck ... although hasn't the guy heard there's an ozone hole above NZ right now?
Light, sharpness and DOF is all good. Composition is ok, I wonder if there's any way of placing the guy less centrally in the frame?
Anyway - I like this one! Congratulations
Rew

Or a good fast getaway vehicle. There, thats why sheep become snow blind, bodies like this. Nice friendly photo TFS

I'd never shoot someone with a gun :-)

Great shot, he looks a friendly kind of guy.

Hello Steven, great shot. I like a lot the contrast with the background. It does look so natural and full of action. You spire me to shot at people. By the way I will try to follow your safety instructions. lol. Well done, Gabriel

good capture and you are lucky you didn't get shot, especially after posting this guy with no tan...

Steve, we are still involved/ involved again with the church we started in squatter camps outside Mamelodi. Our good friends are there with you guys now, Ian and Tanya.

I've always had a special place for your dad in my heart, pity he also joined you guys!

Do you still enjoy living in NZ? ever think of coming back?

jaco

Hi Steven,
Great capture, he needs a tan, get rid of that old "red neck"
Really good action shot, very documentary in it's style, the compo is nice too, good detail, exposure colours and sharpness.
Who says the rifle wasn't loaded?
Thanks,
b.

Really natural photo Steven, clearly highlighting the subject and using an effective DOF.

Hi Steven!
I like the DOF. It would be great to see the dirty vehicle, but if you really wanted to focus on the subject, it is fine :)
Enjoy life to the fullest, always!
Freddie :)
PS: Are you sure the gun wasn't loaded? :)
