| This is basically an underground cave where Imam Mehdi (AS) was meditating and praying prior to his Disappearance (Ghaibat-e-Kubra). It is deep in the ground, located in Samira, Iraq. Adjacent to this is the Mausoleum of Imam Naqi and Imam Hassan ul Askary (AS) father of Imam Mehdi (AS) in the same compound. Mother of Imam Mehdi (AS) is also buried in this compound). Later on this cave was expanded and new stair having flight of steps was built for easiness of pilgrims. This compound can be overlooked from the top of Tower of Al-Mutawakal posted earlier. The floor of original cave where Imam Mehdi (AS) was meditating and praying can be seen behind the sitting men on the other side of the fence. |
