It is. It takes a seed, goes to a nearby branch and hits it with his beak until it is opened.
I used to feed them and had a lot along with goldfinches :-).
Until I found out the sunflower seeds attracted skunks also :-(.
Very nice photo. Very sharp, clear and detailed.

I like your whitebreasted nuthatch.
Very sharp and close at a pretty moment.
We only have them with an orange breast here in the south of Germany, so I'm always amazede to see the white one. Good shot, thanks

Sometimes I tried to get birds pictures and I Know it's not so easy to get very good ones.

Hello Julie,
So you had your response, this is a white breasted nuthatch. I like those little guys and they are not that easy to photograph. I caught one that I published on TN and it was the first time in my life that I saw one in real life :)This is a great capture with good details, I guess that you were pretty close or you have a powerful zoom.
