Hi Martha, pleased to see you trying the effect for yourself instead of using the action. I think to get the effect a bit stronger you will need to repeat the steps a couple more times, just be brave with it!
The subject in this picture has got strong lines around the eyes and forehead which will make it ideal for this sort of treatment.
Goodluck with your search for help, but just remember that it is an effect that is never the same on any one image and it's what you think of the final product that really matters.

EDIT (Hope you like my workshop, it really is great fun playing with this effect, the results are endless.)
