Sunrise from my Driveway

I don’t know why I don’t get up early more often to take sunrise photos. This image was taken from the front seat of my car as I was coming out of my driveway last Saturday morning at 6.08am. I was on my way to pick up Dawn and Pam, who live 30kms north of where I live.

It was so bright; I needed to wear my sunglasses looking at it. I did drive through a few soft showers on the way north. But the rest of the day was sunny and hot.

ENJOY!!

Question

Why are the colours of the sky at sunrise different at sunset?

Answer
Scattering dust particles in the atmosphere can form very interesting sky colours. At Earth, during the day, activity on the ground stirs up dust into the air, which scatters the light when we see it at sunset. At night the dust settles, so we see less scattering by dust in the morning at the sunrise, so different colours in the sky. The redness of Mars is due to lots of dust in its atmosphere.

Can I come live with you, Janice ;o). Just kidding, Dave, just kidding!
Beautiful scenery and stunning colours! I'm glad you had to get up early, Janice, so you could share this with us. I'm not too much of a "morning person" myself, but at least I can watch your shots.

Hi Janice,

Wonderful composition and colors. I could look at sunrise/sunset images all day, TFS.

Jeff

Fantastic frame here, Janice! It caught my eye immediately as a superb photo, right along the lines of Jing's work in sunsets/sunrises who must be on vacation as I haven't seen many of his lately. I just love those light rays coming through the eyehole.

Hi Janice,
I really envy you for having such a spectacular view from the driveway. Sometimes getting up early has its benefits, and you've shown to us why. Interesting fact about the difference between a sunset and rise.

I smiled at your idea of early being 0608 Janice...sorry :). With a view such as you have I would be up every morning. Delightful colours, beautiful rays and strong silhouettes. Well done and TFS,

This is a beautiful view. The water so calm, the colors so warm. Simply amazing. TFS Julie

Hi Janice,
Great sunset with stunning colours. Composition with the trees which act as a frame is supurb!
Hans

It is worthwhile to rise early for a wonderful sunrise like this. I saw in Mozambique how quickly the rays of the sun become so strong that(especially over the water)it blinds you.

How's my Kiwi friend down under?

Beautiful capture, beautiful scene, so inviting, give me summer. ;)

Mike

Oh WOW!! That is beautiful, great job. Thank you for letting me enjoy your sunrise.
