[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is my Christmas Cactus...it started blooming in early December, and is still full of blooms. It is a beautiful flower, but very delicate and difficult to capture. I love the shades of light pink to dark fuscia in the flower.
Tech. I used a tripod, no flash, but 4 different lights turned on in the room, plus the plant is near a south east window. It is bright out today as it is snowing.
Cropped, resized for the web and triple framed in photoshop.
Hope you like it.

Beautiful capture of this flower with the plant itself serving as the background, Liz.
The only thing I'd have done differently is the frame; I'd prefer it not so wide and would have used a colour taken from the flower or the plant. Also for your signature, as it dissolves a bit in the background.
What I tend to do on text additions is copy it to another layer, alter the colour in a contrasting one, shift it up or down and left or right to make it look like a shadow, and then move the layer behind the original text.
All this is a strictly personal preference though, your subject is excellently captured. TFS.

Hi Liz, a beautiful blossom. Amazing and vibrant colors.
The frame, I find a bit heavy for this picture.
I did a workshop for an idea. Hope you like it.

Mike

Great picture of a beautiful flower. The colors are so intense. Nice sharpness and DOF as well. I tend to agree with the others, the frame is a bit much, perhaps a simple black frame for this very elegant photo. Nice job!

Hi Liz, I know what you mean. My cactus like this one is still in full bloom also. Amazing how it can continue to bloom in such beauty for so long. This is a lovely photo. You have done well to capture the beauty. It is a difficult flower to photograph! .....:O)

Hi Liz,

Excellent work. Your photographer's note is also very educational. I couldn't imagine this is a cactus flower.

You can also try a different color for the frame, taken from the petals.

Great!

Super bien réussi cette photo de cette si jolie fleur. Mon cactus de Noël est lui aussi encore en fleur. Bravo Liz c'est très bien fait...
