Indonesia is a country of more than 300 mountains in which almost half of them is volcanoes.
Among those active volcanos is Mt. Ijen, 2.386 m asl.
Nowadyas, this is one of most popular atractions for foreign tourists.
Located at almost eastern part of Java island, viewing to popular Bali island, This volcano has dramatic crater lake measuring about 5 km in diameter.
On the side of the lake there is a sul[hur mine where local people digging out sulphur stones to sell.
They climbed up the volcano early morning to avoid heat temperature and fight with eery sulphur-smokes to take out a pice of sulphur stone.
Next they will carry up to the summit volcano and brought down for about 3 miles on their bare shoulder weighing about 60-kgs and up to, the record one, 108-kgs.
Unfortunately, they earn just a few dollar for such hell jobs as per kg is appreciated about 10 cent US$.
Tourist climbing here will have a beautiful view of the nature and dramatic contour wall voclano's crater.
It would bring up your utmost memorable moment with cameras as you climb down to the sulphur mine experiencing how the local people work out for the daily life.

Hi Irsam.
An amazing scene, full of action. The sulphur certainly has left its mark on the landscape. The lone figure with the red top adds much contrast against natures backdrop, well seen and well done.
Stv
Great POV and scenery. Possibly needs to be slightly rotated clockwise

This is a very impresive place. i have seen another photos like this one and I am always amazed how people has to live to earn just a few dolars.
For the photo I would maby do a little crop of the sky, so it would give a more claustrophobic feeling.

Cool photo, very well done, Irsam. I once saw a show about an Indonesian miner who would hike 7 miles up a volcano (maybe even that one!) and mine 200 lbs of sulphur rocks which he would then take back down the mountain on his back. He was one skinny guy, too! Unfortunately, even with that much, he only had a tin shack for him and his new wife and baby. TFS.
